According to the Humanitarian and Development Cooperation Office (HDCO), more than 10,000 people in Rakhine are in desperate need of food, shelter, paddy seeds, hygiene supplies, and other vital healthcare services.

The most recent data indicate that floods have impacted 12,249 individuals and 3,461 homes across 90 communities, including refugee camps, the statement stated.

From the end of June 2025, persistent rains have caused flooding in the towns of Taungup, Mrauk-U, Minbya, Kyauktaw, Ponnagyun, Rathedaung, Buthidaung, and Maungdaw.

According to HDCO, the floods have killed people, destroyed houses, submerged rice fields, and damaged roads and bridges, as well as disrupted transportation.

Because of the deteriorating communication, the majority of the impacted locations are inaccessible to emergency help. 

In order to help the flood victims, we urge local and international groups to get in touch with the Humanitarian and Development Cooperation Office (HDCO).

With several locations flooded, Rakhine has seen the highest rainfall this year in the last ten years.
