Kularbar village air bombed; local man suffers life-threatening injuries

Narinjara News, July 24, 2025

As a result of increased aerial attacks by the military council during the ongoing conflict outside Kyaukphyu town, civilian deaths have risen.

The military council detonated five bombs on Kularbar hamlet in Kyaukphyu Township on the evening of July 22, hurting 55-year-old U Maung Than Shwe, a local.

He was herding cattle back to his hamlet when a bomb fell and detonated in a field next to the highway, wounding him in the left chest.

At this moment, U Maung Than Shwe is undergoing life-saving medical care.

Using a jet fighter, the military council bombed Kularbar village at 5:30 PM on July 22, releasing five bombs.

According to locals, the bombs detonated in a field close to the Kularbar community, with one on the main road, one close to the clinic, and two in a field adjacent to the road, for a total of five.

The military council's jet fighter launched two bombs on the monastery in Kyauk Pyauk village in Kyaukphyu Township on the morning of July 22, killing a young man and a 93-year-old monk while also leveling several of the monastery's structures.

In the past, the Arakan Army (AA) fought several battles for control of Rakhine, and the military council depended heavily on air power in each of them, but the AA took one town after the other.

Since the main focus of the assault is with aircraft, the Rakhine are said to be paying close attention to how the crucial struggle for Kyaukphyu will play out.
