A woman was murdered while being robbed in the AA-controlled Pyin Chaung village in Kyauk Taw Township, Rakhine State.

Daw Win Nu Yin, 62, of Pyin Chaung Village, was the victim.

The robbers broke into her home and murdered her while she was alone there on Thursday night, July 24, her son U Htun Kyaw Win informed Narinjara News.

"My father also spent the night in the cowshed. At home, my mother was the only person who was asleep. My father returned from the cowshed around 7 am, as far as I am aware. She was already dead when my father came home and woke her up, he said.

A stab wound to her neck and left breast caused her death.

According to her son U Htun Kyaw Win, the robbery targeted treasures and jewelry, including a pair of gold, a gold ring valued at one million kyats, a gold chain, and a gold bracelet worth around twenty million kyats.

"The money was kept for outside usage. The gold consisted of a ring and a pair of earrings. The remaining gold was kept in the box. My mother had the box's key in her lap. After obtaining the key and opening the box, the robbers took them away. That's how it was," he said.

According to locals, Daw Win Nu Yin's remains were buried in the village cemetery on the evening of July 25.

The incident has been reported to the relevant AA police station.

"I also want to know who murdered her. I want more than simply the missing items. I want the death penalty for the murderer if he is apprehended by the relevant authorities," her son U Htun Kyaw Win stated.

Daw Win Nu Yin and her husband, U Htun Hla Sein, raise cattle in Pyin Chaung village. Daw Win Nu Yin typically sleeps alone at home while U Htun Hla Sein protects the cattle farm.

Her other son and two daughters work overseas, but her son, U Htun Kyaw Win, resides in the village apart from his family.

According to locals, the rise in prices and food scarcity in Rakhine are contributing to the rise in such robberies and thefts.

According to locals, a house in Kwan Own Chaung village, near the Sittwe-Yangon highway in Kyauktaw Township, was robbed during the first week of July, and over 10 ticals of gold and some money were taken.
