Narinjara's military source on the ground in Kyaukphyu Township, Rakhine State, said that the ongoing conflict between the AA and junta forces is currently calm, but there is military reinforcement between the two sides in anticipation of future military operations.

“If Kyaukphyu is quiet, the military scenario is frightening. It's like the tranquility before a storm. The military council is also adding to its ranks and arsenal. They are deploying military lines while utilizing their forces to extend the original ground front. Additionally, they are firing artillery.”

Kyaukphyu has been the site of a four-month battle between the Arakan Army and junta troops since April 2025. The AA has been attempting to take Kyaukphyu by force, but thus far, it has not been successful.

The Dhanyawady Naval Headquarters in Thit Pote Taung, Kyaukphyu Township, sent out military lines as far as Kulaba village in the final week of July, and military lines are being sent from Praing Ci Kay, near the 32nd Police Battalion in Gone Chwein ward, to Nhan Phey Taung, he said

He also stated that the military council has increased its military presence and is moving forward from Malakyun to Pyin Chay.

"There hasn't been any fighting lately. However, both sides employed drones and artillery fire. The military council is moving ahead in advance. The AA is monitoring the situation from the area in order to have a chance to attack," he stated.

Furthermore, a Kyaukphyu resident stated that the military council continues to target local villages with drones and artillery despite the lack of combat.

“When they see the villagers, the Junta troops fire at them. The fields are also fired upon by the soldiers. Some folks stay at home rather than run away from the conflict. Their houses have little food. The soldiers fire at anybody who moves around in the village.”

In the ongoing fighting in Kyaukphyu, the military council is deploying drones and paramotors more frequently than in the past, and on occasion it is also using aircraft for strikes.

Additionally, according to locals, Kyaukphyu-based battalions were firing artillery shells at the villages, and the military council was also deploying naval ships.

A military council jet bombed Kyauk Pyauk hamlet in Kyaukphyu Township early on July 21, killing a 93-year-old monk and a 20-year-old man while completely leveling the school structure. There was no conflict involved.

In Kyaukphyu Township, the military council bombed Kulaba village on the evening of July 22, hurting U Maung Than Shwe, a villager who was 55 years old.

Furthermore, on July 15, a nearby woman claimed that the military council navy bombarded Kyauk Pyauk village with artillery shells, destroying around ten houses.
