Sixty-three townships in nine regions and states in Myanmar are covered by the state of emergency

The military council has declared a state of emergency in 14 towns in Rakhine State and Paletwa township in Chin State, which is under the control of the Arakan Army (AA).

The military council proclaimed martial law, including 15 AA-occupied towns, and a state of emergency in 63 townships across nine regions and states on July 31.

Rakhine State's 14 townships under a state of emergency are Ramree, Pauktaw, Ponnagyun, Rathedaung, Gwa Myo, Maungdaw, Buthidaung, Kyauktaw, Minbya, Myebon, Mrauk-U, Thandwe, Ann, and Taungup, which are under the control of the AA.

It also includes Paletwa Township, which is controlled by the Arakan Army in Chin State.

There are 63 townships in the country that have been placed under a state of emergency, including 5 in Kachin State, 3 in Kayah State, 2 in Kayin State, 7 in Chin State, 9 in Sagaing Region, 5 in Magway Region, 3 in Mandalay Region, 14 in Rakhine State, and 15 in Shan State.

The KIA, KNU, TNLA, AA, and PDFs are in charge of all townships proclaimed by the junta council.

The military council's declaration is an order that has the same power as the Emergency Declaration Law of the National Defense and Security Council of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.

"A state of emergency is declared under Article 412(a) of the Constitution of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar (2008) in order to quell armed violence and insurgency and to effectively maintain peace, stability, and the rule of law," it stated.

The declaration of a state of emergency is in accordance with Article 412(a) of the 2008 Constitution of the Military Council and is valid for ninety (90) days from the date the order was issued, according to the statement.

According to analysts, the declaration of emergency has increased violence in Rakhine State, and the military may begin bombing populated areas and towns.
