FC Machida Zelvia, a prominent soccer team in the J-League of Japan, has unveiled the acquisition of a talented Arakanese goalie.

Machida Zelvia officially added 22-year-old Kaun Zen Mara to their roster for the 2025 season after his impressive performances at Sanno University in Japan.

“My name is Kaun Zen Mara, and I am set to sign with FC Machida Zelvia for the upcoming 2025 season. I want to express my gratitude to all who have backed me in my performances, and I vow to give back with my performances,” Kaun Zen Mara wrote on social media.

“I want to join those at Machida with passion, and I aim to become a goalkeeper who represents Japan and inspires children with international backgrounds,” he added.

The signing rapidly became a popular discussion among Asian soccer enthusiasts and was extensively reported by Japanese media.

Kaun Zen Mara comes from an Arakanese background, and his father, U Myat Thu, used to play volleyball for the Myanmar national team.
