A 7-year-old boy from Aung Si Kone village under Rathedaung township, 20 miles north of Rakhine State capital city of Sittwe, was seriously injured as a piece of artillery shells hit him.

The incident took place at around 2:30 pm on Friday that hit Maung Pyae Sone Maung.

Maung Shwe Than informed Narinjara News that his son sustained injuries in the left arm and was sent to  Zaydi Byint station hospital for medical attentions.

"All my children and their mother were inside the house. Two navy vessels on Mayu river suddenly fired  shells as a ship was crossing by them. Later they started shooting at the village. They additionally used small guns too. We are worried about the situation,” said Maung
Shwe Than.

Daw Khin Saw Wai, a Pyithu Hluttaw member from Rathedaung township, said that a local resident informed me about it. The boy is presenting treatments in the hospital. It is painful to witness such an incident.

Rakhine Ethics Congress (REC),  a human rights body, in a statement claimed that a Burmese navy boat was used for firing the shells. Meanwhile, the locals got scared and kept themselves inside their campuses.

When asked about the Tatmadaw's reaction over the matter,  General Zaw Min Tun, chairman of Tatmadaw's truth news , was called repeatedly  but no respond was made available.
