Sittwe’s No. 2 police station in lock down after COVID case confirmed

Sittwe’s No. 2 Police Station has been locked down since in the morning of Friday after a case of corona virus was confirmed at the camp.

The camp commander was diagnosed with the virus on August 19 after attending an officer training course in Mandalay's Chan Myae Thar Zan Township. His patient number is 587 and he is 40 years old.

A police officer from Sittwe No. 1 Police Station confirmed to Narinjara that the Sittwe No. 2 station had been locked down.

"We locked down the entire camp this morning. Police there are under observation. Those who come to No. 2 police station to report an incident must go to No. 1 police station to do so. We have put up a sign in front of the closed camp,” said the police officer.

Along with the infected police officer, seven other Sittwe based officers who also attended the training course have been ordered to undergo quarantine. Police officers from Sittwe No. 2 police station have been ordered to quarantine in the camp, according to the police officer.
