Narinjara News, 3 April 2022
A Rakhine individual was shot dead by an unidentified assailant in the Kyauk Myaung area of Tamwe township in Yangon (Rangoon) in the morning hours of 1 April last.
The deceased has been identified as U Thet Zaw (40 years old), hailing from Tawlay village of Laytaung
town under Rambree township in Rakhine
State.
Daw Khin Mar San, the victim’s wife, revealed that two masked men entered a tea shop and then targeted U
Thet Htwe while he was drinking a
cup of tea along with some of his friends. The tea stall is located at Satipatthan road in Kyauk Myaung area.
The victim died on the spot succumbing to injuries by five
gunshot wounds in his neck, back,
abdomen and chest.
His wife demands justice to her family. Speaking to Narinjara News, the lady asserted, “I want the truth to
be revealed. The gunmen should be
punished under the law.”
Ko Htwe, who was with him in the tea shop, also received injuries and is presently undergoing medical
treatments.
According to a source close to the victim, U Thet Htwe had
no political affiliation but he
looked like the Kyauk Myaung ward administrator.
So it may be a case of mistaken identity that led to
the shooting over U Thet Htwe.
“U Thet Htwe is not associated with any political party. He only used to provide assistance to the local
community,” said one of his neighbours.
U Thet Htwe’s mortal remains were brought to Tamwe township police station for necessary procedures
leading to his cremation after handing
over the body to the family members.
