National League for Democrcay’s central working committee has expressed concern over the health condition of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, who has been imprisoned for years in the military ruled Myanmar.

In a statement, issued on 14 September, the NLD asserted that the military council will be fully responsible if her life slips into danger due to lack of adequate health care facilities.

Suu Kyi, who is now 78 years old, has been suffering from various diseases for the last few weeks, but she has been denied proper medical treatments.

The statement alleges that her accommodation was not properly maintained and the junta may put her life in danger.

U Bo Bo Oo, a member of NLD’s central committee, informed Narinjara News that they are especially worried about her deteriorated health condition. He stated that the international community should find ways to put pressure on the junta for the benefit of the Nobel peace laureate.

Currently, San Suu Kyi remains cut off from the outside world as well as her family. The NLD expressed worries over her poor health, as portrayed on social media by many individuals, and urged the international community to come forward supporting and encouraging the pro-democracy icon.

The party leaders claimed that Suu Kyi was kidnapped by the military rulers and she has not been allowed to enjoy the minimum rights of a political prisoner.

The NLD also appealed to the United Nations, leaders from ASEAN community and governments of neighboring countries to put pressure on the military regime in Naypyitaw to release all political prisoners including Suu Kyi as soon as possible.

Suu Kyi has been sentenced to a total of 33 years in prison for 19 cases lodged by by the military council. In August 2022, she was given a six-year parole by the junta authority under an amnesty and even though the lady has to face imprisonment for no less than 27 years.
