A letter found in his bag read, "I am a Myanmar citizen. I have no place to live nor food. Can you give me some food?"
Narinjara News, February 23, 2023.
The dead body of a Rakhine man was found in a ditch in Bang Len township in Nakhon Pathom province, Thailand, according to Thai media outlets and Myanmar migrant workers.
“When the body was recovered, his bag was found. The national identification card (NIC) in his bag says he is a Rakhine man. It is unclear whether he died because he was depressed as he couldn't find a job, or because of some other reason”, a Myanmar migrant worker in Thailand said.
On February 20th, a woman noticed the body lying face down near the edge of the ditch and contacted the authorities, Thai media reported.
The deceased was wearing shorts, a blue t-shirt and a bag.
The NIC and two other cards were found in his bag. According to the NIC, his name is Maung Than Shwe, a Rakhine Buddhist, and his father is U Maung Kyan Tun.
In his bag, a letter that read, "I am a Myanmar citizen. I have no place to live nor food. Can you give me some food? I don't speak Thai. Please have mercy on me. Can I get food and water?" was found.
The body has been taken to Nakhon Pathom Hospital and the police are still investigating the death.
