Aung Mingalar border guard outpost near Kyee Kan Pyin
headquarters, where the number 1 border guard police station is situated in
northern Maungdaw township of Rakhine State, has fallen to the Arakha Army (AA)
on Tuesday afternoon.
Soon after the surrender of soldiers, the junta forces
conducted airstrikes using two jet fighters, said a reliable source from the
Rakhine region.
"The entire outpost with 30 soldiers surrendered
on 23 April. Besides the airstrikes number 5 border guard police station in
Maungdaw and the warship on Naf river had fired artillery shells
continuously," added the source.
The Arakha Army (AA) fighters have now reached the
Kyee Kan Pyin headquarters. If they launch an offensive against the
headquarters, it would be a fierce fight. More than 2,000 civilians from
Phar Wut Chaung, Aung Mingalar, Aung Tharyar, Kyee Kan Pyin and Aung Zeya
villages will have to flee.
"The sound of artillery shells fired from
Myo Thu Gyi number 5 border guard police station was heard. The explosion
of artillery shells hitting Kyee Kan Pyin can also be heard from Maungdaw,”
said a local lady.
Since 13 November last year, the AA fighters continue launching offensives
against the junta forces in northern Maungdaw township. As a result, the border
guard outposts and tactical operation commands like Done Nyo, Taung Pyo
Lat Wae/Let Yar, Aung Thapyay, Kyaung Na Bay, Kha Maung Seik, Taman, Thar,
Kyein Chaung, number 7 border guard police station, Nga Khu Ya and Ywet Nyo
Taung had completely fell and those are now under control of the AA.
