Artillery shells cause injuries to 3 Pauktaw residents



The artillery shells fired from a military base in Sittwe exploded over  Taung Maw Oo village under  Pauktaw township of Rakhine State and injured two Rakhine people and one Muslim.

 

The  shells exploded at around 5 pm on 26 April causing injuries to Maung Soe Lwin (15 years old) and Ma Nge Ma Chay (16) from Taung Maw Oo village. A  40-year-old Muslim individual from Ah Nauk Ye IDP camp also sustained injuries.

 

"The junta forces fired three artillery shells. One landed inside the village and exploded. The two others landed outside. Three houses were also damaged," said a villager.

 

A military camp in Sittwe fired seven artillery shells near the village.

 

"They were firing artillery shells even though there was no ongoing fighting. The area is really peaceful, but unfortunately the soldiers targeted the village,” he added.

 

On 25 April, a residential house was destroyed by the airstrikes ignited from the military base in Kyauktaw locality.
