Conflicts continue in 5 Rakhine townships, AA fighters chase down junta soldiers in Minbya, Mrauk-U, Pauktaw localities

 The conflicts between the Arakan Army (AA) and junta forces continue  in five townships of Rakhine State. According to a  statement issued by the Three Brotherhood Alliance on 18 January, the conflicts now spread to Minbya, Pauktaw, Mrauk-U, Ann and Ramree (Yanbye) townships.

 

The AA stated that they are actively pursuing the junta soldiers who are yet to surrender in Minbya, Mrauk-U and Pauktaw townships.


"The AA fighters are actively pursuing the junta soldiers who refused to surrender and continued their attacks on the AA and also the civilian population," added the statement.

 

The statement also mentioned that a local youth from Ywar Thit number  5 ward was injured by the shell shrapnel when the soldiers from the Buthidaung-based junta's division 22 fired artillery shells over the urban wards at around 9:10 pm yesterday.
