Over 100 Rakhine people remain trace less after junta’s arrest

The junta forces arrested over 100 Rakhine people on 20 February, who were travelling in three express buses from  Yangon, but they remain trace less.

The vehicles, including two Aung Sit Khaing express buses, were returning to the Rakhine region from Yangon’s Aung Mingalar highway bus station.

The victim families express worries about the passengers and appeal to the  junta forces to release them.

Talking to Narinjara News, the relatives informed that  the express buses were asked to drive towards a military battalion and later they were arrested.

"The express buses were intercepted on Shwe Pyi Thar road as they were returning. The soldiers escorted the buses to a nearby military battalion where the passengers were asked to get down. Only one monk was released, but the remaining passengers were arrested,” said a relative.

The released monk named U Indira from a Rakhine monastery in North Okkalapa township was leading the group.

Among those arrested there are 14 young passengers from Yoe Chaung Ywar Thar Yar village under Myebon township.

The residents from the village, who are arrested, include  Ye Win Hlaing, Phyo Htoo San, Bo Saw Hein, U Win Kyaw, Su Lin Shwe, Soe Myint Maw, Aye Chan Tin, Ma Aye San Win, Ma Cho Cho Than, Ma Moe Htet Thu, Ma Chit San Khin, Ma Phyu Phyu Soe, Ma Aye Thida and Ma Khin Than Nwe.

The individuals from Thayet Taung village under Myebon township including Ma Win Win Khin, Ma Nyein Nyein Cho, Ma Phyo Phyo Cho and Ma Than Shwe Khin are also arrested.

According to DVB, at around 10 pm on Thursday, the soldiers and police personnel arrested over 20 Rakhine people who were staying in a guesthouse near the city hall in Muyar Pin ward of  Pyay township under Bago Region, after inspecting the overnight guest list.
