Young girl killed, another injured in junta airstrike on Mrauk-U

A young girl was killed and another young woman  injured in the airstrikes conducted by the junta forces on Mrauk-U, the ancient capital of Rakhine kingdom.

The deceased was a 16-year-old girl from Ywar Haung Taw ward.

A Mrauk-U resident  informed Narinjara News that a Y-12 aircraft dropped five bombs on Mrauk-U locality at around  9:50 am on Friday.

"The victim girl was washing dishes at home and faced the bomb. The age of the injured woman is not yet known," added the resident.

Both the injured were taken to a civil hospital, but the younger one succumbed to injuries.

"Mrauk-U is now accessible as the junta has allowed people to move. However, many residents have not returned after fleeing. Despite the town being captured, there is still concern about potential attacks by the junta forces," explained the resident.

The bombs dropped by the junta forces exploded in Bandoola ward, Ywar Haung Taw ward and Wan Tee village.

On 12 March, the junta soldiers conducted airstrikes on Minbya township, which was captured by the Arakan Army (AA) and it killed one man and two women from Zay Haung Pine ward.

The local residents alleged that as the junta was  losing control over their divisions, battalion headquarters, military camps, police stations and towns, they started resorting to target civilians in both rural and urban areas. They have also attacked hospitals, schools and other buildings in the Rakhine region.
