A woman in Ywar Thar Yar village under Ramree township of Rakhine State was
killed by shrapnel from an artillery shell fired by the junta's navy personnel,
said local residents.
At around 7 am on Wednesday, an artillery shell fired by a
navy barge stationed in the strait between Ramree and Manaung townships
exploded in Ywar Thar Yar village, which killed Daw Aye Than Myint (aged
46).
"The Manaung navy personnel continuously fired
artillery shells toward Ramree locality. They fired from a navy barge stationed
in the river between Ramree and Manaung townships. One shell landed in our
village and struck the woman's abdomen. She succumbed to injuries,” said a
resident.
The Rakhine war front is expanding from northern to southern localities and the
military personnel are continuously firing artillery shells. They have also
compelled the civilians to serve in the military and at the same time they are
preparing for any battles in the coming days.
