The United League of Arakan (ULA), the political wining of Arakan
Army (AA) has issued a warning to local people
regarding the cyclone Mocha, which
may develop in the southeastern part of the Bay of Bengal.
A low-pressure area is developing in many areas of the sea, stated
the meteorologists with an alert
message that it would develop into a depression
on Tuesday resulting a strong cyclone next day.
The people dependent on the rivers for their livelihood including those users of fishing and marine
vessels have been asked to be careful from
10 to 13 May.
"People who earn a livelihood
with shore & offshore fishing vessels, passenger boats etc are
advised to be especially aware of the storm
and if possible, they should stop working on 10 to 13
May," stated the ULA/AA
warning note.
The international organizations have been urged to look into the situation if there is an urgent
need for humanitarian assistance.
ULA is
expected to cooperate with the Humanitarian
and Development Coordination Office for the mission.
The meteorology and hydrology department also predicted about the strong cyclone coving many areas of the
Bay of Bengal on 10 May.
The forecast said that the surface wind may reach 50 to
60 kmph during the storm.
U Sini Tun, a long-distance fishing boatman from the Thekhon village, informed Narinjara News that
they have been monitoring the situation.
"At this moment, we have put our fishing boats ashore. We plan to go for works only after observing the storm conditions,” he added.
