Fiber boat sinks in Rathedaung harbor, passengers rescued

 A fiber boat with 10 passengers sank near the Rathedaung jetty this afternoon. Fortunately all the people on the boat were rescued.

According to a young woman who witnessed the mishap said that the boat arrived from Nwa Tin Goke village under Rathedaung township at around 2 pm while it was returning with the passengers and goods.

"Nothing happened to the people on the boat. The nearby residents could save them on time. But the goods were lost," she added.

Soon after the boat sank, the workers of Rathedaung city port rescued the passengers, informed a resident of Rathedaung locality, who witnessed the accident.

 "There were four children among the passengers. The workers from the port jumped into the water and saved the passengers,” he added.
