Junta
forces fired artillery shells into Kan Thar Yar village, Maungdaw Township,
Rakhine State, without any conflict, causing injuries to two young women and an
elderly man, according to reports.
On
January 4, at 11:10 AM, three artillery shells, fired by Maungdaw-based No.5
Border Guard Police Battalion and Buthidaung-based battalions, exploded in Kan
Thar Yar village, causing serious injuries to individuals and damage to a
house, as reported by the villagers.

Kaung Hla Nyo was sunbathing under the roof of his house when an artillery
shell struck his home, resulting in a shrapnel wound on his right thigh.
Villagers
reported that Ma Sabel Moe and Ma Nu Nu Wai were playing on the village road
when an artillery shell exploded there. Ma Sabel Moe was struck by shrapnel in
the thigh, and Ma Nu Nu Wai sustained injuries from shrapnel grazing her back.
Both U Kaung Hla Nyo and Ma Sabel Moe, with serious injuries, were taken to
Maungdaw hospital for treatment.
