The China government in Beijing has expressed strong
dissatisfaction over the casualties of Chinese citizens because of armed
conflicts in the Myanmar bordering area and expressed its commitment to take
all necessary measures to protect its citizens, said a CNA report on Thursday.
Beijing issued the statement following reports in the
Chinese media outlets on Wednesday that an artillery shell from Myanmar crossed
the international border and hit Nansan town of Yunnan province, where it
exploded and killed some people.
In a press conference, held by the China government on
Thursday regarding the concerned incident, its foreign ministry spokesman Wang
Wenbin stated that Beijing expressed strong dissatisfaction that the armed
conflict has caused Chinese casualties due to armed clashes on the border with
Myanmar.
"China once again demands that all parties in the
northern Myanmar conflict immediately cease hostilities and take practical
measures to prevent further pernicious incidents that endanger peace and
tranquillity on the border," said Wang
China will take all necessary measures to safeguard the
security of its citizens' lives and property, he added.
Wang did not provide details on the number of people killed
or wounded in the incident.
Analysts say that the military junta has already lost a
number of towns and military bases, including crucial border hubs vital
for trade with China, to the offensive of allied ethnic armed groups, which was
launched in October, marking the most substantial military challenges to the
junta since its coup.
