Casualties reported after AA artillery shelling hit western command in Ann



 The artillery shells, fired by the Arakan Army (AA) and exploded in western command base in Ann have resulted in casualties among junta officers, including a major, said a resident of Ann township.

 

During the clash on 9 April at around 7:30 pm, the artillery shells were fired by the AA fighters and those landed in the combat support unit of western command. A major from the signals battalion was killed and several other officers & soldiers were injured.

 

"The signals battalion is just one road away from the western command. The major sustained serious injuries by shrapnel and finally he died at 1 pm on 10 April," said a military source.

 

On 10 April, the fighting was intense in Nat Sin Taung near Lone village, mountains near Kyaung Phyu Kwin village, mountains near the 373rd light infantry battalion and  Taw Hein Taung tactical operation command. The army, navy and air force personnel are engaged in shelling which causes worries for the local residents.


"The battle is raging in four places. The junta forces are fighting as best they can. The warplanes in Ann airport are constantly taking off and landing. We are worried as we don't know when the artillery shells will fall on us," she a women resident.


The junta has closed the road towards Ann township which has  caused serious food shortages for the residents.

 

Narinjara News cannot independently confirm the death and injuries to junta soldiers.

 

The battle to capture Ann township is going on as the soldiers are not relinquishing its control. As a result, the fighting is intensified in the locality.
