On
December 28, around 6:00 AM, a resident of Myaung Bway reported hearing a
series of small arms fire near the Myaung Bway police station, located along
the Mrauk-U-Minbya highway.
"The
Myaung Bway police station has been attacked by the AA. We've been hearing continuous gunshots
since 6:00 AM," reported a resident of Myaung Bway when contacted at 8:00
AM.
The
Myaung Bway police station serves as a camp where soldiers are stationed, with
approximately 60 troops. Local residents mentioned that there is also an
artillery unit located within the police station.
"The
Myaung Bway police station is primarily stationed by soldiers, with at least 50
to 60 soldiers and policemen. There is also an artillery unit," reported a
resident of Myaung Bway.
Residents
mentioned that the Myaung Bway cottage hospital, Myaung Bway High School, and
some houses near the Myaung Bway police station, where the AA attacked, were
present. Most of the residents fled before the onset of the conflict.
Residents
reported that the battalions based in Mrauk-U Township and the Kyaing Taung
battalion in Minbya Township were consistently firing artillery shells into the
areas of conflict.
The
junta's battalions from Mrauk-U Township and Minbya Township have been firing
artillery shells at these areas since around 2 AM this morning. When Narinjara
contacted the residents again at 8:44 AM, artillery shells were still being
fired.
After
the simultaneous attacks by AA members at Thu Taw Ma Taung military camp and
Mrauk-U district police station in Ngwe Taung Pauk, north of Mrauk-U Township
on the morning of December 24, both locations were successfully captured by the
night of December 26, as announced by the Three Brotherhood Alliance.
In
the statement released on December 27, marking the 62nd day of "Operation
1027," the Three Brotherhood Alliance announced that the AA is
persistently working towards completing the capture of its designated
operational targets and striving to achieve the capture of military bases and
strategic camps that are only halfway or have only a few remaining.
