Fighting between junta forces and AA fighters begins in southern Rakhine



 The gun fighting between the junta forces and Arakha Army (AA) fighters begins in the southern part of Rakhine State. The residents informed Narinjara News that they could hear the sound of small arms firing and artillery shelling in between Kwayt Chaung and Yae Sin villages under  Thandwe township on 13 April in the morning hours.

 

A local military analyst revealed that the war in Rakhine has now spread to the southern localities. Meanwhile, the junta has closed the road between Thandwe and Tungup all of a sudden.

 

The gunshots were reported at around 5 am and continued till 6:30 am. The residents now feel worried and refrain from coming outside for even works.

 

"The gunfire was heard on the path over the mountain between Kwayt Chaung and Yae Sin villages. Now the villagers remain inside their residences,” said a local resident.

 

Kwayt Chaung and Yae Sin villages are situated on the Thandwe-Taungup road in between Shwe Hlay village and Thandwe township. Nearly 40 junta soldiers were stationed at the Yae Sin intersection for about two months.

 

"The soldiers suspected that some  AA fighters were coming to the localities. Previously, they carried out military operations in the mountain villages connecting the Yae Sin junction," said a villager.

 

Narinjara News continues searching for authenticate information about the gun fighting.

Currently, the soldiers are checking the  pedestrians at the intersection of Yae Sin road. A military vehicle and a police car were also observed in the area those went towards Yae Sin village.
