AA declares the seizure of a significant number of firearms from the Junta army

The Arakan Army (AA) has revealed that their members have seized a large volume  of weapons from Taung Shay Taung mountain tactical operation command base in Kyauktaw township and Thin Kyit Taw mountain in Mrauk-U township of  Rakhine State.

Following the surrender of Laukkai regional operations command (ROC) in northern Shan State, nearly  200 junta soldiers stationed at Taung Shay mountain tactical operation command base in Kyauktaw surrendered to the AA.

According to the AA sources, many other soldiers from the military bases expressed their willingness to surrender and  seek refuge in the people's embrace.

In the effort to seize the Taung Shay Taung mountain tactical operation command base, an AA  statement highlighted the active involvement of comrades from several allied organizations.

To establish the entire Paletwa region as a junta-free zone, the AA members have  been attacking the junta camps. Since 7 January,  they have successfully seized all junta camps in the western part of Paletwa. The remaining camps will be completely dismantled in the coming days, asserted the statement.

Nearly 104 junta soldiers, who escaped during the operation to capture Chin Let Wa base, found refuge in India’s Mizoram province with the support from the Assam Rifles.

Furthermore, on 29 December, 151 junta soldiers from the point-377 hill-based camp also fled into India and were later handed over to the military rulers by the Indian agencies on 2 January.

On 7 January at 4 pm, the AA completely  captured Thin Kyit Taw mountain camp in Mrauk-U. Later substantial volumes of military arms and ammunition belonging to the junta forces were seized during the operation.

The AA statement concluded with the assurance that the soldiers of various military bases, who are interested to reach them, may communicate to surrender at any time.
