Two Rakhine sisters were killed in an apartment of Tamwe township under
Yangon locality after robberies on Thursday.
Bodies of both the women were found in the 8 floor
apartment of house no 15 during the morning hours.
A woman close to the victims said that she heard about
the incident and expressed grief that both were stabbed to death.
“I heard that the elder
sister was stabbed first. Later when the younger one returned home, she was
also targeted. Both hailed from Thandwe township of Rakhine State,” she said,
adding that the younger victim (Daw May Sanda Htwe, 48) used to work in pharmaceutical
company.
The elder one,
identified as Daw Mary Tin (62), was a retired teacher.
Another female neighbor revealed that the person who killed them is a rickshaw puller.
He was close to
them and often came to the apartment. The victims even gave him the gate’s key.
So he could easily enter their apartment and stabbed
the elder sister in the bathroom and the youngest one in the middle room.
The killer has already been arrested by the police and
both the bodies were sent to Rayway cemetery.
A Rakhine woman living in Kyauk Kansan ward expressed
her worry that no one in the Yangon apartments are safe now-a-days.
Narinjara News tried to contact the Tamwe police
station but no response resulted.
Myanmar continues witnessing more incidents of
killings, robberies and burglaries since the military coup, where Yangon
records the worst.
