The second meeting between the Three Brotherhood Alliance (MNDAA, TNLA and AA) and junta, held in Kunming
of China from 22 to 24 December with Beijing’s intervention ended in a
breakdown without reaching any agreement, said the VOA Burmese.
The report cited an anonymous attendee in the meeting and
stated that the discussion primarily focused on troop deployment and reopening
of trade routes, but no agreement could be reached.
It is said that both the parties agreed to convene another
meeting in January 2024.
The first discussion resulted in a Haigeng Agreement between
the two parties outlining a 20-day temporary ceasefire from 11 to 31 December.
But the intense fighting continued despite the agreement.
China's foreign ministry recently urged the Myanmar military
rulers to exercise restraint in handling the current conflicts across the
country.
The intense fighting in various parts of Rakhine State
mainly in Mrauk-U township as well as Paletwa township of Chin State is
still going on.
The military analysts indicated that the outbreak of skirmishes in Ramree (Yanbye), Kyauktaw and Maungdaw townships has heightened tensions across the Rakhine region and it may erupt at any moment.
