A notice was posted in Kyaukphyu township of Rakhine State  urging the junta soldiers to surrender and seek refuge in the people's embrace.

The local residents reported that they saw the notice on Saturday morning somewhere along Kyaukphyu-Yangon highway in Gone Chwein village-tract.

"The notice was not there on the previous day. I think it must have been posted this morning," said a resident of Gone Chwein village-tract.

The notice argued that the junta forces should decide if they want to fight on behalf of the junta or the people.

The junta soldiers do not protect the people and it makes them unpopular among the civilians everywhere. The common people do not share information about the revolutionary forces.

"Seek refuge in the people's embrace using your common sense. Join the people. Surrender to the nearest ULA/AA members and become a part of the people's revolution. The people are willing to forgive you,” it added.

The notice also pointed out that the junta forces should not dedicate their precious time and energy for the benefit of Min Aung Hlaing and his supporters. Rather, the soldiers should  seek refuge in the people's embrace.

Later the notice was removed by the soldiers after they arrived in a vehicle at around 8:50 am. They also threatened to shoot and kill everyone.

"The soldiers threatened to shoot anyone associated with the activities. They also used offensive words against those responsible," said a local woman.

On 1 February morning, intense clashes erupted between the Arakan Army (AA) fighters and junta soldiers in Mala Kyun, Pyin Shay Ywar Thit and Yae Myet villages in the Kyaukphyu valley.

During the conflict, Dhanyawadi naval base and Doe Tan Taung's 32nd police battalion indiscriminately fired artillery shells resulting in injuries to six local residents.

On 2 February at around 6 pm, as gunshots continued to echo from the conflict zone, the residents from nearby villages fled to safer places.
