3 PDF members arrested while going to Mae Sot for medical
treatment
Narinjara News, 6 April 2023
Three members belonging to People Defense Forces (PDF), who went to Mae Sot of Thailand for medical
treatments, were arrested by the Thai law
enforcement officials and later handed over to the Myanmar Border Guard Force (BGF), said a local source.
"They were arrested five days back from a checkpoint at Silla Kuta in Mae Sot locality. They were comrades
from the southern Naga (Dragon) group,”
the source added.
The arrested individuals are identified as Ko Thiha (38 years old), Htet Nay Win (31) and
Saw Phyo Lay (26).
A rumour spreads that one of them was killed while trying to flee from the custody of Thai army personnel on
the way to the Burmese side during
the morning hours of 4 April.
However, Narinjara News can not confirm the information.
The Burmese migrants, who arrived in Thailand, informed that the Thai security forces have been deployed
along the international border. They
are strictly monitoring the evacuation process.
“Currently, there are fewer arrests. Members of some revolutionery groups were also arrested in Mae Sot,”
said a Burmese refugee from the Thai
border.
Myanmar migrant groups in Thailand revealed that the Burmese nationals, who are arrested by the Thai
law enforcement agencies, may be
sent back to the custody of the military council. They urged them to be careful while crossing the
border.
