An explosion took place in the tax office of downtown Yangon on Monday at around 12 noon, where six
women, including four employees, were
injured. All of them were sent to the hospital immediately.
"Four employees and two others faced the hist of explosion,” a source in the commissioner of taxation office. It took place on the third floor of the
office under the tax department.
It hit the iron chairs outside the office where normally the guests wait.
Among the victims, there is a female officer with three other femal employees, confirmed by the military
council run media outlets. Other two
women, who came to the office, also sustained injuries.
The injured women are lately identified Ma Phyo Phyo Aung
(deputy in-charge of the office),
Myat Khun Khin, Daw Khin Lat and Ma Aksana (all are employees). The other two are Ma Cherry and Masu Hnin.
All have been taken to Yangon
public hospital.
Currently, the tax office is made closed and the military council subordinates are conducting inspection
(incluidng the phone checking) inside
it.
Meanwhile, the military council troops arrived in the location and enhenced the security arrangement of
the office. The security personnel
came in both full uniform and civilian clothes just 15 minutes after the blast.
During last March, an unexploded bomb was found in front of the customs office at the intersection of 49th street and Mahabandula road in Puzundaung township of Yangon.
