No
less than 41 soldiers belonging to the LIB (143) battalion, which is under the
northern Shan State military division (Ramakha) based in Kunlong township of Kokang
autonomous region, surrendered to the brotherhood alliance along with their
weapons on 30 October.
They
also handed over three communication devices, 27 sophisticated small arms,
5 machine guns, 2 RPG launchers, one sniper,
one 82 mm
mortar, two 60 mm mortars, two MA 4 guns and 7 walkie talkies the brotherhood alliance. Several tons of rations were also seized from the
battalion, which was waiting for reinforcements.
Currently,
three brotherhood allies (AA, TNLA and Myanmar National Democratic Alliance
Army) are fighting against junta forces under Operation 1027.
The
surrendered soldiers were already pardoned with the amount of Kyats 700
thousand.
On
31 October, the members of militia groups in special region (1) under Kokang
district’s Kunlong
township surrendered
to the MNDAA, reported the media.
Within
five days of Operation 1027, over 100 soldiers surrendered to the alliance.
The
alliance had earlier issued a statement asking the soldiers to surrender for
their own safety. The soldiers were also promised dignities while dealing with
any alliance partner.
