AA captures Aung Tha Pyay border guard post bordering Bangladesh



The Arakan Army (AA) has successfully captured Aung Tha Pyay border guard post in northern Maungdaw township, adjacent to the Bangladesh border, said the 12 March Rakhine battle statement.

 

It indicated that the post was completely captured on 11 March. The AA fighters recovered bodies of some soldiers along with weapons and ammunition. Moreover, the number of Border Guard Police (BGP) personnel, who abandoned the post to flee to Bangladesh, reached 179.

 

"We have found that the junta forces have applied deadly poisons on the food items left inside Aung Tha Pyay border guard post, put  in water bottles and also sprayed inside the camp. So we warn other revolutionary armed organizations to be careful in case of food items seized after the battle," added the statement.

 

Currently, the AA fighters have intensified its offensive in Rathedaung township and the junta forces are trying to defend their positions with the help of army, navy and air force personnel.


The junta forces  also ruthlessly carried out airstrikes resulting in the killing of two civilians and injuring several others.

 

The junta forces also targeted Tan Kyoe mountain near Yae Boke village under Ann township firing from a machine gun in a helicopter at around 5 pm and discharged around eight  rounds in a few minutes. The crimes of the soldiers are escalating in Rathedaung locality every day,  concluded the statement.
