AA captures another military vessel in naval battle, till date 9 vessels occupied

The Arakan Army (AA) claimed that another naval ship belonging to the Myanmar junta was captured during a naval battle in Minbya township of Rakhine State.

 

A statement issued by the AA on Tuesday also added that the naval battle took place on 13 February near Thet Pone village under  Minbya township, following which one more junta vessel was captured.


During the week (7 to 13 February), five military vessels, comprising three naval ships and two naval barges, were attacked by the AA fighters.


Four other military vessels were also damaged after the AA offensive, added the statement.



 On 7 and 8 February, during a naval battle near Ah Pauk Wa village under Kyauktaw township, the AA fighters attacked two naval ships and one naval barge. It resulted in  destruction and sinking of all three military vessels. The AA members also seized  some arms and ammunition.

 

Similarly on 12 February, the AA fighters targeted another military vessel near Pale Pauk village under Minbya township.


These military vessels were used for firing artillery shells over the Rakhine villages for a longer period. Their attacks led to the death of hundreds of innocent Rakhine people. Many sustained injuries and a number of houses were damaged.
