The ArakanArmy (AA) intensified its offensive against the battalion headquarters locatedin Rathedaung township of Rakhine State.
The AAfighters launched an offensive against the Rathedaung-based 536th lightinfantry battalion, 537th light infantry battalion and 538th light infantrybattalion on Sunday evening, said an AA statement.
It alsoadded that regular offensives were carried out in certain areas which were alsopreviously targeted.
The juntaforces, who abandoned the Aung Tha Pyay border guard post in northern Maungdawtownship, were engaged in combat with the AA fighters. The intense clashespersisted for hours.
The AA also pursued and eliminatedthese columns, which caused the Border Guard Police (BGP) personnel to deserttheir camp and flee into Bangladesh.
Bangladeshi media outlets reported that over a hundred BGP personnel fled into theirterritory. Till Monday evening, 29 BGP personnel fled to Bangladesh,reported the Dhaka-based media outlets.
