151 Junta Soldiers Who Fled to India Sent Back to Sittwe

151 junta soldiers, who fled to Mizoram, India,during the battles at Point-377 camp and the Myeik Wa battle in PaletwaTownship, Chin State, were flown back to Sittwe by Myanmar military aircraft.

 

Indian news agencies also reported that thesoldiers have been sent back to Myanmar.

 

On January 2, the first group of 84 soldiers,followed by a second batch of 67, were airlifted from Lengpui airport inAizawl, Mizoram, by JuntaAir Force aircraft.

 

On December 29, during the AA's attack andcapture of the Point-377 hill-based camp, a stronghold of the junta in PaletwaTownship, the soldiers abandoned the camp and fled with weapons into India.

 

Indian news reports indicate that a Myanmarmilitary aircraft landed at Lengpui airport in Mizoram, took back the juntasoldiers, and is set to transport them to Sittwe Township.

 



The junta's 377th Battalion is based in Mrauk-UTownship.

 

The BBC, citing Indian news, reported todaythat the New Delhi government has arranged for the return of junta forces fromLengpui airport, with plans to transport these soldiers back to Sittwe, the capital of Rakhine state.

 

On December 29, the soldiers entered TuisenVillage in the Lawngtlai District of Mizoram State, India.

 

Following this, the junta soldiers surrenderedtheir weapons to the Indian police station, and subsequently, the policestation handed both the soldiers and the weapons over to the Assam Rifles.

 

On December 29, the AA reported the completecapture of the junta's Point-377 hill-based camp in the Paletwa region alongthe India-Myanmar border on December 28 at 9:20 AM.
