Junta’s shelling injure four persons in Kan Htaung Gyi town, Woman dies of heart ailment

 Due to artillery shelling by the military council troops, four individuals were injured, and one woman died of heart ailments in Kan Htaung Gyi town under  Myebon township of  Rakhine State.

 

A resident of Kan Htaung Gyi town  informed Narinjara News that due to an artillery shelling from Kazu Kaing mountain in Ann township at around 7:30 pm on 17 December, two woman and two men sustained injuries.

 

"The artillery shells were fired  from Kazu Kaing mountain at 7:30 pm. About 10 minutes later, an artillery shell fell in the town and injured four people. One man sustained injuries on his leg and the others were however not seriously injured. I could not sleep the whole night,” he added.

 

On the other hand, a 63-year-old woman with some heart problems died due to continuous artillery shelling by the soldiers. The deceased has been identified as Daw May Yi Mya from Ah Lel Pine ward.

 

 "She had a heart problem. We used to hear the sound of gunfire since the fighting in Ann township began. They fired frequently towards Myebon township. That's why the woman suffered a severe heart problem,” he added.

 

The middle-aged school teacher Daw Khin Khin Than was hit on her hand, 38-year-old Daw Lin Lin Swe was hit on her back, young Maung Arr Kyel was hit on the hip and Maung Thayet Taung was hit on her leg. They all hail from Taung Pine ward.

 

The residents also informed that the windows of a post-primary school in Taung Pine ward were also damaged by the shelling.

 

Local residents revealed that the  Arakan Army (AA) and military personnel have been fighting in the Kazu Kaing area in Myebon Township.

 

At around 11 am on 13 December, Taw Hein Hill-based camp of the military council based in Kazu Kaing village under  Ann township deliberately targeted the villagers. Because of the

indiscriminate artillery firing, a 54-year-old man from Ah Htet Ywar Haung village under Dalet Chaung village-tract of Ann Township sustained injuries.

 

During the gun fighting in Rakhine State nearly  30 civilians were killed and over 100 were injured in one month.
